Tension-tension fatigue behavior of ductile adhesively-bonded FRP joints

چکیده

The tension-tension fatigue behavior of ductile adhesively-bonded double-lap FRP joints was experimentally investigated. An acrylic adhesive, which in the rubbery state at ambient temperature, provided joint ductility. degradation characterized by cyclic energy dissipation, stiffness, creep displacement and self-generated temperature. effects elevated temperature on joints’ static tensile pure behaviors were also All failed adhesive layer almost same failure displacement, independent loading history (static, creep, fatigue, loading) due to stretching adhesive’s molecular chains until primary bonds failed. Fatigue driven creep; displacements accelerated mainly damage caused high load levels low levels.

Computational Models of Adhesively Bonded Joints

Simulations using the Finite Element Method (FEM) play an increasingly important role in the design process of joints and fasteners in the aerospace industry. In order to utilize the potential of such adhesive bonding, there is an increasing need for effective and accurate computational methods. The geometry and the nature of an adhesive joint are, however, not so simple to describe effectively...

Tension–tension fatigue of hybrid composite rods

The tension–tension fatigue behavior was investigated for a hybrid composite rod comprised of a unidirectional carbon fiber core and a glass fiber shell. Fatigue tests were performed at three R-ratios and four maximum applied stress levels (MAS) while recording the secant modulus at each cycle, and acoustic emission (AE) sensors were employed to monitor the activation of fatigue mechanisms. Fat...

Propagation of ultrasonic Lamb waves in adhesively bonded lap joints

This paper considers the bonded joint as a multilayer structure that is analysed using the Transfer Matrix method. In this particular case three layers (two adherents and the adhesive) are considered. The study of this propagation problem may be developed from matrix formulations which describe elastic waves in layered media. This technique combines the theory of the dynamics of the continuum w...

Tension–tension fatigue behavior of layer-to-layer 3-D angle- interlock woven composites

The tension–tension fatigue behavior of (the layer-to-layer) three-dimensional angle-interlock woven composite (3DAWC) was investigated using the acoustic emission (AE) technique, examination of damaged regions via light microscopy and micro-CT, and finite element analysis (FEA). AE events occurred during the entire fatigue process, and damage modes were determined based on cumulative fatigue d...
